adminKeymasterGood Morning All
THORNDON BOWLS CLUB
Once again, the time is here for my end-of-season report and to advise you that our AGM will take place on Monday 3 November 2025 at the Village Hall and ask that any member proposals and nominations for the AGM are with me by 10 October. Following the success of the previous year’s combination of AGM and Presentations, we will again hold our Annual Presentation immediately following the AGM with light refreshments to follow.
I’m sure you will agree that we can reflect on another successful season and join me in thanking our captains who have worked tirelessly scheduling our league and cup games, enabling the club to field competitive teams across all competitions.
I would like to congratulate the numerous players who played in various representative games.
Of course, none of the above would have been possible without the commitment of our Committee supported by a cross section of our members in so many ways.
On a personal note, I am not going to stand for re-election as Chairman this year. Although the kind offers of support from fellow Committee Members made me think I could combine both Club and County roles, the 2025 season has confirmed to me that the demands of County Presidency will not enable me to give our Club the time and energy it justifies. However, I intend to continue to support the Club and Committee.
Our Club continues to grow in status within the bowling community and there is the opportunity for new initiatives and energy to continue this trend.
Kevin has also reached the decision that he will not be standing as Vice Chairman for the next season believing that it will be best if he steps aside from the role. Kevin intends to carry on supporting our Club in the roles of Competition Secretary and Safeguarding Officer.
Margaret feels now is the right time to stand down as Captain of the Ipswich & District League team and therefore will not be standing for re-election at the AGM. However, Margaret will be seeking re-election as Club Captain.
In summary, nominations are required for:-
• Chairman
• Vice Chairman
• Ipswich League CaptainMember proposals and nominations, in addition, need to be seconded by a Club member.
Following the closing date for agenda proposals, including nominations, a full agenda will be circulated, along with supporting papers for the AGM on 21 October.
All members are invited to come along on 3 November and have their say in how the Club is run, support the Winners of our Club Competitions, and enjoy the social occasion which will follow.
Kind Regards
David
