    Dear Members,

Here are a few updates and news items about the Bowls Club.

Brian Whatling Memorial Tournament, Sunday 10 August 2025.
Following a request from Brian’s family, we now have agreement with our Committee, as well as Robin Whatling & Chris McIntyre our sponsors at £50 each to change the rules. The competition will change from a Singles Competition to a Drive consisting of four games of six ends.

Registration is at 12.30 for 13.00 start with entry of £3.50. There will be a BBQ and the bar will be open.
    Prize Money: Winner £40, Runner-Up £30, Third £20 & Fourth £10.

The Registration Chart is on the Clubhouse notice board and we still require 9 more entrants to make the Tournament work to its full potential.

    Taster Event, Tuesday 5 August
We are opening our doors to local non-members to come and ‘give it a go’. We have 40 locals who have said they will be coming along which means we will require in the region of 15 volunteer members to lend a hand by demonstrating to the non-bowlers how to bowl. Please let Margaret Thorpe (07484 609569, mthorpe46@gmail.com) know as soon as possible if you can help.

    Club Competitions
With our Club Competitions well underway please can we remind you that dress for Club Competitions is Grey below the waist and Club Shirts above. This dress code also applies to Markers.

    Marquee Erection
Help is required on Thursday 24 July to erect our large marquee for which a minimum of 6 members is required. Please contact Allan (07941 153927, ollie622001@gmail.com) as soon as possible if you are prepared and able to help.

    WNT Volunteers
To help our committee members, some of whom are also fulfilling duties to Suffolk County Bowls Association, we are seeking some volunteers who are prepared to run our WNT on a few Wednesday evenings. If you are prepared help we will arrange for someone to help you for the first couple of times.

Area D Semi Final, Saturday 12 July
The County Area D Semi Finals will take place on Saturday 12 July at Ixworth Bowls Club IP31 2HH. Please come along and support our members who have played well and won a place in the Semi-Finals.
The finals take place on Sunday 13 July at the same venue.
